SHINE Superintelligence and Health INnovation Ecosystem

Where health meets intelligence.

SHINE brings together healthcare, research, education and emerging technologies at Lata Mangeshkar University (LMU). It is a shared space for clinicians, faculty, students and researchers to learn about intelligent technologies, use them in care, build new work with them and guide how they are adopted.

About SHINE

SHINE, the Superintelligence and Health INnovation Ecosystem, is an initiative at Lata Mangeshkar University (LMU). It connects the people who deliver care and teaching with the tools and ideas emerging from artificial intelligence and health technology.

Its work is organised into five verticals: academics, healthcare, research, governance and outreach. Six focus areas, from artificial intelligence to sensors and wearables, set out the technologies it concentrates on.

SHINE is open to UG and PG students, faculty, clinicians and researchers, at LMU and beyond.

What the name stands for

Superintelligence
Advanced artificial intelligence, and how it can be applied safely in health and education.
Health
Patient care, rehabilitation and clinical practice, where new tools have to prove their value.
Innovation
Research, projects and new ideas, from study design to startups.
Ecosystem
Students, faculty, clinicians and partners working together in one network.

Focus areas

Six areas of technology where SHINE concentrates its learning, research and practice.

  • AI and Superintelligence

Artificial intelligence in health and medical education, and the questions raised as AI systems become more capable.

  • Digital Health and Telemedicine

Digital tools, health data and remote consultation that extend care beyond the clinic.

  • Virtual Reality and Simulation

Immersive and simulated environments for clinical training, skills practice and rehabilitation.

  • Medical Devices

The design, testing and evaluation of devices that support diagnosis, treatment and recovery.

  • Robotics

Robotic systems in healthcare, including assistive and rehabilitation robotics.

  • Sensors and Wearables

Wearable and connected sensors that track health signals, movement and recovery in everyday life.
